Major fire in a Chișinău residential complex

On the night of December 28, rescuers and firefighters in Chisinau intensified their efforts after a fire broke out in a townhouse complex on 19 Măcieșilor str. in Chișinău. The flames affected the roofs of five homes, spreading over approximately 1,000 square meters. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies (IGSU), "the call to the 112 Service was received at 00.37", and initial information indicated that "the roof of a townhouse complex caught fire".

Due to the scale of the fire, authorities decided to intervene at an increased level. "In accordance with the increased level of intervention, eight emergency vehicles and 50 rescuers and firefighters were dispatched to the scene," the IGSU stated.

Upon arrival, the institution's employees discovered that the fire had spread over an estimated 1,000 square meters of the roof. After several hours of battling the flames, firefighters successfully contained the fire at 3:54 AM.
Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the blaze; however, the fire damaged the roofs of five homes in the housing complex. Thanks to the quick response of the crews, the fire did not spread to any other buildings.

The cause and circumstances of the fire will be determined by specialists. Also, firefighters and rescuers report that, "in the last 24 hours, IGSU employees have responded to 46 missions."
