Emergency services face a demanding start to the year amid accidents, poisonings, and hypothermia

In just under two weeks since the start of the year, there have been 80 road accidents in the Republic of Moldova that required ambulance intervention. These incidents resulted in injuries to 109 individuals, with 79 patients, including 16 children, needing to be transported to the hospital.

The data, presented by the National Center for Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Assistance (CNAMUP), covers the period from January 2 to January 11, 2026.

During this time, there were 17 recorded cases of hypothermia. Additionally, medical teams responded to several poisoning incidents: 20 people were affected by carbon monoxide, 19 by medications, 18 by alcohol, 7 by other substances, 4 by illegal drugs, and 1 by mushrooms.

The Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Assistance Service received requests for assistance in 44 cases of burns, and there were another 24 cases involving bites and stings from animals or insects.

Since the beginning of the year, ambulance teams have responded to over 24,700 requests for assistance.
