Illegal weapons seized in Ialoveni poaching case

Police raided the homes of two men from the Ialoveni district who were suspected of poaching. During the raid, they discovered illegally owned weapons, ammunition, and other tools allegedly used for illegal hunting.

According to the General Inspectorate of Police, the suspects are 49 and 50 years old, respectively. Searches were conducted at their homes and in their vehicles in the localities of Văsieni and Bardar.

Law enforcement officers seized various items, including weapons, ammunition, adapted lighting systems, aiming devices, and capture cameras.

“All seized items will undergo the necessary analysis. Investigations have revealed that the two men are not legal owners of the weapons,” stated the IGP.

The police would like to remind the public that illegal hunting, conducted without authorization and using prohibited equipment, can result in a fine of up to 42,500 lei. Additionally, the court may impose detention, with the law allowing for a penalty of up to 3 years in prison or up to 240 hours of unpaid community service.
