Ukrainian stopped at border with six suspected gold bars

At the Palanca customs post, six bars believed to be gold were found in the luggage of a 48-year-old Ukrainian citizen. The individual was one of the 36 passengers on a bus preparing to enter the Republic of Moldova.
The driver and passengers claimed they were transporting goods solely for personal use; however, customs inspections using scanning technology uncovered suspicious luggage.
During a physical search of the Ukrainian individual’s clothing, six gold metal ingots of various sizes, stamped with the inscription "FINE GOLD", were found.
The ingots were confiscated and sent for examination, and the individual faces potential sanctions.
The inspection was conducted jointly by border guards and customs authorities from Ukraine.
