Moldova will open information office for Creative Europe Project applications

The Republic of Moldova will be able to access European funds for cultural projects after it joins the European Union's "Creative Europe" Program on January 1, 2026. To help facilitate access to this program, the authorities in Chișinău will establish an information office, as announced by Andrei Chistol, the head of the section at the Ministry of Culture.
According to Andrei Chistol, funding is available for those who propose innovative projects that meet the eligibility criteria.
“The most important conditions relate to the originality of the idea, the cultural novelty it introduces, the project's contribution to the development of artistic identity, the expansion of the cultural audience, and the promotion of artistic mobility,” Andrei Chistol stated during an interview on ZI de ZI de la Radio Moldova.
The program includes projects with small budgets that require at least three European partners, as well as multi-year projects with larger budgets, which are co-financed by the European Union at a rate of 50-60% of the total value, depending on the specific call for proposals.
“This is an important step towards strengthening the presence of the cultural sector from the Republic of Moldova on the European stage,” the official added.
The "Creative Europe" program comprises three components that will be implemented in the Republic of Moldova: cultural, media, and cross-sectoral initiatives.
Eligible participants include organizations, independent artists, public institutions, and public associations. To assist potential beneficiaries, the authorities will establish an information office to facilitate the application process and connect applicants with international partners.
“Currently, several calls for proposals are being launched by the European Commission for funding under the cultural component,” Andrei Chistol noted.
The program, managed by the European Commission, has a total budget of 2.44 billion euros for the period from 2021 to 2027.
The agreement regarding the Republic of Moldova's participation was signed in Chisinau on September 2, 2025.
