Moldovans in Romania placed 2,938 calls to Moldova’s emergency 112

They go to Romania, and whenever they encountered risky situations, they called home for assistance. From 2018 to 2025, a total of 2,938 citizens of the Republic of Moldova contacted the 112 Service in Chisinau for help while on Romanian territory. This figure refers to the period since the launch of this unique emergency call service in the Republic of Moldova.

Of the calls received by the 112 Service from citizens in Romania, 517 were forwarded to the National Center for Pre-Hospital Medical Assistance, 401 to the police, and in five cases, the intervention of firefighters and rescuers was necessary.

According to Ana Carpovici, a specialist at the National Single Service for Emergency Calls 112, the ability to handle calls from Romania is made possible by a system dedicated to exchanging information with emergency centers in Romania.

This mechanism enables rapid, secure, and efficient transmission of essential data between services, supporting effective coordination of interventions.

Currently, the data exchange system is undergoing modernization, which will enhance collaboration with other emergency centers in the European Union. This improvement will increase the capacity to respond to calls that require international assistance.

We remind you that the 112 Service has recorded a consistent volume of calls over the past year, with monthly statistics showing a continuous increase. For example, in October 2025, there were over 176,000 calls, of which 34% were non-urgent.

On average, ambulance calls were received every 43 seconds.

In the first half of last year, approximately 1.2 million individuals requested help through the 112 Service.
