World Jewish Congress rallies global support for #WeRemember campaign
The World Jewish Congress (WJC) has officially launched its annual #WeRemember international campaign to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27. The global initiative seeks to honor the victims of the Shoah while highlighting the rising dangers of antisemitism, hatred, and historical revisionism.
Running from January 20 to 27, the campaign invites the global public to engage in symbolic actions that promote historical truth. Participants are encouraged to share photos holding "We Remember" signs on social media using the #WeRemember hashtag to spread the message of "Never Again."
Community engagement and education
Beyond digital activism, the WJC is calling for local communities to host commemorative events. These gatherings focus on sharing first-hand survivor accounts and educational presentations designed to bridge the gap between history and the modern public.
Organizers emphasize that the Holocaust involved the systemic persecution and mass murder of approximately 6 million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. Experts state that studying this era remains vital for preventing future genocides and ethnically motivated violence.
A symbolic tribute at Auschwitz
To support the initiative, the WJC is providing educational resources for schools and organizations throughout January. This material aims to provide a deep institutional background on the mechanisms of state-sponsored hate.
In a powerful concluding gesture, photographs from the global campaign will be projected at the former Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp on January 26 and 27. This display, held in partnership with the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, serves as a solemn vow to preserve the truth for future generations.
