EU4Innovation East launches €1M call for Moldovan startup hubs

The European Union and the Government of France have launched a €1 million strategic call for proposals to bolster Republic of Moldova’s startup infrastructure. Business Support Organizations (BSOs) can secure non-reimbursable funding between €50,000 (approx. 975,000 MDL) and €250,000 to develop high-impact incubators and accelerators.
This initiative, part of the EU4Innovation East program, targets universities, innovation hubs, and accelerators with proven track records. The funding aims to transition the local ecosystem from theoretical ideas to functional, market-ready businesses through structured mentorship and international expertize.
Strategic priorities for growth
Selected projects must focus on high-impact areas, including pre-acceleration programs, investment readiness training, and specialized hackathons. The call encourages partnerships between the private sector, academia, and the Moldovan diaspora to facilitate global market access for local founders.
Application and sustainability
Eligible applicants, including consortia and NGOs, must demonstrate a minimum 20% co-financing stake to ensure long-term project viability. The selection process involves a two-stage evaluation, beginning with a mandatory concept note submission.
Timeline and impact
Interested organizations must submit their Concept Notes by February 20, 2026. This funding cycle represents a critical step in transforming Moldova’s economic landscape and fostering a new generation of internationally competitive entrepreneurs.
