Milano-Cortina 2026: Moldova 1 kicks off comprehensive coverage of €3.5 billion Winter Games

The 25th edition of the Winter Olympic Games officially begins today at 21:00, marking the start of a premier global spectacle hosted across Northern Italy. From February 6 to 22, the event will span iconic locations from the streets of Milan to the peaks of the Dolomites.
Moldova’s public broadcasters, Moldova 1 and Moldova 2, will provide 100 hours of live coverage over the next 16 days. The opening ceremony airs tonight at 21:00 on Moldova 2, preceded by a special preview on Moldova 1 featuring former Olympians Alexandra Camenșcic and Bogdan Macovei.
Teleradio-Moldova (TRM) has deployed a dedicated journalistic team to Italy to provide first-hand reports on the Moldovan athletes' performances. A specialized team of commentators and technical staff will ensure 24/7 updates for the domestic audience throughout the competition.
A Record-Breaking Infrastructure
The opening ceremony will take place at Milan’s historic San Siro Stadium, while the closing festivities are set for Verona. Milan serves as the primary hub for ice sports, including figure skating and hockey, while biathlon and alpine skiing events will be held in the Italian Alps.
Approximately 3,500 athletes will compete across 16 sports disciplines in this landmark edition. This marks Italy’s third time hosting the Winter Games, with total infrastructure and organizational costs reaching a record €3.5 billion (approx. 68.6 billion MDL).
