Dan Barna elected Vice-Chair of EU-Moldova Parliamentary Delegation

Romanian MEP Dan Barna (Renew Europe) was appointed Vice-Chair of the Delegation to the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee on Thursday, February 12.
The appointment comes at a pivotal moment for Moldova’s European trajectory as the nation accelerates its accession process. Barna emphasized that the delegation must evolve from a monitoring body into an active partner focused on concrete reforms and security.
"History is being written on Europe’s Eastern flank," Barna stated. This mandate signals an unwavering commitment to supporting Chișinău during its most transformative historical period.
The Vice-Chair identified countering hybrid threats and disinformation as top priorities. He also pledged technical expertise to bolster Moldova’s judicial and economic reforms.
Barna committed to ensuring that the current "strategic window" leads to irreversible progress. He aims for an accession process that is technically rigorous yet politically ambitious.
"Our goal is a stronger, united Europe that includes a secure and prosperous Moldova," Barna added. He will work to mobilize political will and resources for the partnership.
The EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee is co-chaired by MEP Siegfried Mureșan and Marcel Spatari, head of Moldova’s Committee for European Integration.
This delegation serves as the European Parliament’s primary body for political dialogue and monitoring bilateral relations under the existing Association Agreement.
