NHIC reports record 2025 investment in national hospital network

Moldova’s National Health Insurance Company (NHIC) has modernized nearly 100 medical facilities nationwide, following a strategic investment cycle completed in 2025.
The total budget of over 78.1 million MDL (approx. €3.98 million) represents a significant 29 million MDL increase compared to the previous year. Over 90% of these funds were dedicated to the structural renovation and modernization of clinical buildings.
The NHIC allocated 75.6 million MDL for the renovation of 74 medical edifices. An additional 2.5 million MDL (approx. €127,000) was invested in high-tech laboratory equipment, physiotherapy tools, and rapid diagnostic devices.
The investment covered a broad spectrum of the national health system, including 21 district hospitals and elite institutions such as the Mother and Child Institute and the "Chiril Draganiuc" Institute of Pneumology.
Phased implementation and dental care
While most projects reached completion last year, 19 remaining initiatives are scheduled for final delivery by the end of spring 2026. All projects were selected through a rigorous competitive bidding process.
Specific attention was also given to specialized care. The NHIC invested 1.4 million MDL (approx. €71,000) into renovating the Republican Dental Polyclinic and the Municipal Dental Center in Bălți.
