RISE Moldova: Marina Tauber reportedly holds over $560,000 in a sanctioned Russian bank

Former MP Marina Tauber reportedly has over half a million dollars deposited in a Russian bank that is under international sanctions and linked to Kremlin-associated circles. This information comes from an investigation published by RISE Moldova, which claims that this amount is not included in her most recent asset declaration.
According to journalists, the information originates from a leak within the Russian Federation. The documents reveal that a bank deposit was opened in the name of Marina Tauber at PromsvyazBank (PSB). Data from April 2025 indicate that the deposit was valued at nearly 50 million rubles, approximately 560 thousand dollars.
At an interest rate of 21%, this amount would have generated about 9.8 million rubles, or roughly 120 thousand dollars, according to calculations by RISE Moldova.
Marina Tauber is the former vice-chairman of the unconstitutional "Sor" party, which was dissolved in 2023 following a ruling by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova.
In September 2025, the Chisinau Court sentenced Tauber to 7 years and 6 months in prison for money laundering, falsification of financial reports, and illegal financing of the former "Sor" party. Afterward, she left the country and was later spotted at several events in Moscow.
The same leak also mentions Ilan Shor, who reportedly has a deposit of approximately $87,000 at the same bank. Journalists allege that Shor used a Russian passport to open this account.
Neither Marina Tauber nor Ilan Shor, who has been sentenced to 15 years in prison in the Republic of Moldova and is currently in Russia, have commented on the information published in the press.
In recent years, PromsvyazBank has been involved in investigations into the illegal financing of various political parties linked to the Shor group in the Republic of Moldova. These investigations also examine cases of voter corruption. According to official reports, millions of dollars from the Russian Federation have entered the country through organized cash transport and bank transfers.
