Nine countries have new ambassadors to the Republic of Moldova after President Maia Sandu received their letters of accreditation on 17 February.

Only Japan’s new ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Kazuyuki Takeuchi, will lead the diplomatic mission in Chișinău. The others will reside in Bucharest or Kyiv.

List of ambassadors who presented their letters of accreditation to Maia Sandu:

Kazuyuki Takeuchi, Ambassador of Japan, resident in Chișinău;

Shahnaz Gazi, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, resident in Bucharest;

Pericles Demetriou Stivaros, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, resident in Bucharest;

Park Kichang, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, resident in Kyiv;

Mohammed Moustafa Orfy, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, resident in Bucharest;

Noel Eugene Eusebio M. Servigon, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, resident in Bucharest;

Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, Ambassador of the Republic of India, resident in Bucharest;

Abdullah Abdul Rahman Alshatti, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait, resident in Bucharest;

Gloria del Carmen Olivares Portocarrero de Garro, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru, resident in Bucharest.

We note that the designated Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, has again not presented his letters of accreditation, although Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed him by decree on 10 September 2024 and he arrived in Chișinău in October of the same year.

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu announced in recent days that Oleg Ozerov will not receive accreditation soon because the necessary conditions for this step have not been met.

Earlier, President Maia Sandu explained that the delay in accreditation results from Russia’s disrespectful attitude toward the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.

Although he has not received official accreditation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chișinău has summoned Oleg Ozerov several times to deliver protest notes over Russian drones violating the airspace of the Republic of Moldova.
