RARE CASE | Baby over five kilograms born in Soroca: "I ate healthy and followed the doctors' advice"
A baby weighing 5.025 kilograms was born at Soroca Maternity Hospital. Robert is a true fighter, earning the title of "giant baby." Even more remarkable, his mother delivered him naturally.
From birth, Robert made a sensation. He measured 60 centimeters and weighed 5.025 kilograms. He is the fifth child in the family.
"He is the biggest, at 5.025 kilograms. The others weighed 4.7, 3.2, and 3.5 kilograms. I ate healthy and followed the doctors’ advice," said his mother, Mariana Moraraș, to Moldova 1.
Although such cases are rare, doctors recommended a natural delivery.
"We expected a large baby, probably 4.5–4.6 kilograms. We continued monitoring. He was quite large, but there were no signs or indications for a cesarean," said gynecologist Lilia Neamțu.
Both mother and baby stayed under medical observation for a few days. They are now healthy and discharged.
"Giant babies are rare. Currently, he has a normal weight loss of about 150 grams, is breastfeeding well, and is healthy. Both mother and baby are doing fine, and we are happy with such births," added neonatologist Nina Spoialo.
Last year, Soroca District Hospital also saw a baby over five kilograms, and in January, Chișinău’s “Gheorghe Paladi” Municipal Clinical Hospital recorded a boy weighing 5.02 kilograms.
