Moldovan authorities raid design firms in €355,000 tax fraud investigation

Authorities in Chisinau conducted a series of coordinated raids on Thursday, February 19, targeting companies in the construction, architecture, and design sectors.
The operation, led by the PCCOCS and the State Tax Service, uncovered a large-scale tax evasion scheme. Initial estimates indicate a total loss to the state budget exceeding €355,000 (approx. 7,000,000 MDL).
Evidence seized in capital raids
Investigators searched multiple offices in the capital and its outskirts, seizing accounting documents and significant sums of cash believed to be illicit proceeds.
The specialized prosecutor's office (PCCOCS) stated that the targeted firms failed to report service income and avoided corporate income tax. This "off-the-books" accounting led to substantial financial damage to the national treasury.
Legal action against executives
Three individuals, including two company administrators and one chief accountant, are currently under investigation. They face charges for tax evasion on a particularly large scale.
Authorities are moving to formally assign criminal suspect status to the individuals involved as the audit of the seized financial records continues.
