North Moldova regional development: €4.2 million contracts signed for water and urban renewal

North Moldova is set for a significant infrastructure upgrade following the signing of construction contracts worth €4.2 million (approx. 83.2 million MDL). The investment targets clean water access and urban revitalization.
Vice Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea attended the signing ceremony on Thursday, February 19. The agreements involve the North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord) and local authorities from Fălești and Drochia.
Securing potable water for 14 localities
The primary project focuses on completing the Prut-Fălești pipeline. This strategic infrastructure will provide high-quality drinking water to 14 communities across the Fălești and Ungheni districts.
The first phase includes constructing 15 kilometers of new supply lines. These will connect the city of Fălești and several neighboring villages, including Sculeni, Risipeni, and Albinețul Vechi, to a reliable water source.
The project also involves building a 1.5-kilometer main conduit and rehabilitating 4.5 kilometers of the existing network. This intervention addresses technical failures that have prevented water delivery since 2012.
Urban revitalization in Drochia
Parallel to the water works, Drochia will see major improvements in the Valea Curechiului area. The project focuses on modernizing Alexandru cel Bun Street to enhance traffic flow and road safety.
Upgrades include the installation of 10 modern public transport stations. These will serve approximately 2,500 regular commuters, including students and social institution employees, improving the daily commute for the city’s 17,000 residents.
Additionally, the project will refurbish residential courtyards along the main boulevard. These improvements aim to boost the quality of life for local families through better urban connectivity and shared public spaces.
