Moldova's Anti-Corruption Agency raids 40 locations over infrastructure fund embezzlement

Moldovan anti-corruption officers and prosecutors launched a large-scale operation today, conducting over 40 raids across several town halls and a national agency. The investigation targets the misappropriation of substantial national and European funds intended for road infrastructure, water supply, and sewage systems.
The National Anti-Corruption Center (CNA) is investigating alleged corruption involving public officials and private contractors. The probe focuses on fraudulent public procurement processes that resulted in significant financial losses to the state and international donors.
The raids took place in the districts of Căușeni, Sângerei, Soroca, Șoldănești, Edineț, Taraclia, Strășeni, and Glodeni. Investigators also searched the headquarters of a private contractor and the National Office for Regional and Local Development (ONDRL) in Chișinău.
Criminal proceedings are currently ongoing as authorities secure evidence related to the embezzlement scheme. No formal charges or specific arrest numbers have been released at this stage of the investigation.
