Political party switching, condemned in Parliament: Deputies collect signatures for amending the Constitution

More than 20 deputies signed so far the project initiated by the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) which provides for the amendment of the Constitution in order to prohibit political party switching. The announcement was made by the executive secretary of the PSRM, the vice-president of the Parliament Vlad Bătrîncea. The deputy called on colleagues from all parliamentary factions to support the project proposed by the BCS.

"At the moment there are more than 20 signatures. We ask all our colleagues, regardless of political views, to sign this document and to put an end to this "political tourism". Those deputies who want to initiate political movements, they should give up the mandate of deputy, go to the citizens and build his path from scratch. This harmful phenomenon undermines the authority of the Parliament, democracy and defies the vote of the citizens", said the vice-president of the Parliament, the socialist Vlad Bătrîncea. The political move was also condemned by the faction of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS). While the Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu declares that the fraction will examine the proposal of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists, deputy Dan Perciun urges his colleagues to address, including, the Prosecutor's Office.

"We have to find out what is a very serious situation. The political party switching is back in the Parliament. I would expect you to file a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office. Your colleagues have been bought. The fair also talks about the amounts that were given. It is clear that it did not happen out of the desire of the colleagues to be closer to the people, they were stimulated by significant sums. People took a lot of money to take this step", declared PAS deputy Dan Perciun.

"You go to the prosecutor's office when they were bought, but if they were sold?", PAS deputy Ion Șpac asked himself. "Political party switching is a vice that destroys and discredits everything. We will look very carefully at your initiative and we will see the opinion of the Constitutional Court", said the Parliament Speaker, Igor Grosu.

We remind you that the Bloc of Communists and Socialists initiated a procedure to amend the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova in order to prohibit political party switching. The announcement was made this week by the executive secretary of the PSRM, Vlad Bătrîncea, after several deputies from the BCS left the party.

In this context, we remind you that in recent weeks, three socialist deputies have left the PSRM. The most recent departure was that of Irina Lozovan. The reason cited by the deputy is that PSRM cannot survive without a leader. On March 5, deputy Alexandr Nesterovschi joined the Movement for the People. Previously, Gaik Vartanean also announced his resignation and joined the National Alternative Movement team led by the mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban. Thus, the fraction of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists has only 29 deputies in the Parliament. Also, ten mayors elected on the PSRM list recently announced that they join the Movement for the People.
