MFA: No Moldovan citizens among victims of the Middle East attacks

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Chisinau has announced that there are no citizens of the Republic of Moldova among the victims in Israel, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey. The MFA advises strict adherence to local authorities' instructions and encourages everyone to remain vigilant.
According to the diplomacy in Chisinau, the Crisis Cell operates permanently and monitors security developments in the region, in coordination with the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova.
In the State of Qatar, in the context of the security incident of February 28 (attacks with missiles and drones on military targets, including the Al-Udeid air base), no victims or injured persons have been recorded among the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. However, the airspace remains closed. The Qatari authorities announced that the situation is under control and urged the population to stay indoors and avoid non-essential travel.
In the United Arab Emirates, following the incidents reported on March 1 regarding drone attacks on Dubai Airport (DBX) and Abu Dhabi Airport (AUH), and the checks carried out with the competent authorities in the United Arab Emirates, no victims or injured persons have been recorded among the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. Local authorities are monitoring the situation and are to communicate any additional measures. The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the United Arab Emirates is constantly monitoring developments and checking the possible impact on the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
According to information communicated by the Embassy of Moldova in Turkey, the airspace of Egypt remains operational, a Turkish airline announced the suspension of flights to Lebanon and Jordan until March 2. It is recommended to constantly check the status of flights before traveling to the airport.
At the same time, following the recent events in Iran and the contradictory information appearing in the public space, the security situation in the area is unstable and can change rapidly. According to the MFA, additional security measures and restrictions may be imposed and there is a risk of regional tensions and unpredictable developments. The Azerbaijan-Iran land border remains closed for regular passenger traffic.
In this context, the MFA recommends that Moldovan citizens avoid non-essential travel to the affected areas, regularly check flight status, and follow the instructions of local authorities. Moldovans are also advised to stay in touch with the Republic of Moldova's diplomatic missions and to obtain information exclusively from official sources.
The Crisis Cell of the MFA continues to monitor developments and will return with updates as they become available.

The conflict in the Middle East has escalated following the assassination of Ali Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader. Iranians have launched attacks on numerous targets in Israel and neighboring countries. Meanwhile, reactions to Khamenei's death range from public protests to celebrations.
Ayatollah Alireza Arafi has been appointed to the ruling council and is temporarily serving as the Supreme Leader, according to the Iranian news agency ISNA.
In an interview with CNN, Iran's deputy foreign minister stated that Donald Trump crossed a "very dangerous red line" by ordering the killing of Khamenei.
Iran's president has declared that the United States and Israel have initiated a war against Muslims. He issued a statement demanding revenge for both the attacks on Iran and the assassination of Khamenei, whose fate has been uncertain for some time.
In a recent statement, President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed that revenge is a "legitimate right and duty."
