30 days’ arrest for Durlești City Hall leaders over suspected public land scams

The mayor of Durlești, Eleonora Șaran, and deputy mayor Mihai Enachi have been arrested for thirty days, along with two other individuals. They are involved in a criminal case concerning the improper dispossession of several land plots by the local public administration. Additionally, four other defendants have been placed under house arrest.

The suspects are accused of orchestrating a scheme that deprived the Durlești City Hall of land purchased at a symbolic price, which they then resold to real estate developers for amounts reaching up to 40,000 euros.

They allegedly falsified cadastral extracts and property deeds to facilitate the illegal transfer of the land.

The estimated damage from these actions amounts to 15 million lei. The suspects were detained after searches conducted by officers from the National Anticorruption Center, which took place last week.

Eight individuals, including the mayor and deputy mayor of Durlești, a suburb of the capital, were detained for 72 hours on February 27. This followed 50 searches conducted by law enforcement in connection with a criminal case concerning the unlawful dispossession of several plots of land by the local public administration.
