Vote in Parliament: The package of laws regarding the SIS activity, approved by PAS deputies
The law on the reform of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) was approved, in the first reading, with the vote of 59 PAS deputies. The legislative initiative contains detailed regulations on the powers, obligations and rights of the SIS, and establishes the risks that represent a particular danger to national security.
According to the authors of the legislative initiative, this law aims to ensure the independence of the institution. The PAS deputy, Lilian Carp, who is part of the working group, said that the SIS law will be applied against those who betray the country and assured that abuses by state institutions will not be tolerated.
Deputies from the BCS faction criticized the bill and were against it.
