Imports made up over 50% of Energocom’s February energy purchases

The Republic of Moldova purchased 420,000 MWh of electricity to meet its consumption in February, with imports accounting for the largest share at 55.11%.

In February 2026, Energocom reported that 37.35% of the purchased energy was obtained through bilateral contracts with suppliers and producers in Romania, while 17.76% was purchased via the BRM and OPCOM trading platforms.

Domestic producers contributed 44.89% of the energy delivered.

The average electricity purchase price in February 2026 was 123.80 euros per MWh. In comparison, the average purchase price in December 2025 was 132.57 euros per MWh, indicating a decrease in the average purchase cost.

The supplier also highlighted that these purchase costs do not include taxes, transportation expenses, capacity reservation fees, or other logistical costs.
