Moldova’s path to equity: State leaders honor women’s role in national progress

Moldovan state leaders issued high-level addresses to mark International Women’s Day. They emphasized the vital role of women in societal development and the urgent need for systemic respect and equal opportunity.

President Maia Sandu highlighted the essential contribution of women to national stability. "Moldova is stronger because of the courage and dedication of our women," the President stated, wishing them continued "respect and self-reliance."
Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu noted that March 8 serves as a moment to audit progress on human rights. He stressed that the state must guarantee a level playing field for every girl in the country.
From rights to reality
"March 8 is about rights won and rights that demand ongoing advocacy," Grosu remarked. He noted the collective responsibility to build an environment where every woman can "dream without limits."
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu praised women’s leadership across all sectors, from agriculture and healthcare to state institutions. He described women as the force "driving the nation's momentum" and providing hope for the future.

Beyond the calendar
The Prime Minister invoked the legacy of Queen Marie of Romania, noting that women possess the unique gift of maintaining unity during crises. He argued that respect must be a constant institutional value, not a seasonal gesture.
"We do not need a single day on the calendar to appreciate women; respect must be unwavering," Munteanu added. He concluded by reiterating the state’s duty to ensure every woman feels free, respected, and proud of her achievements.
