Moldovan wrestler Vitalie Eriomenco wins gold at U23 European Championships in Serbia

Moldovan wrestler Vitalie Eriomenco has secured the gold medal at the U23 European Championships, successfully defending his continental title in the 63kg weight category.
Eriomenco, hailing from Ucrainca in the Căușeni district, defeated Russia's Dordji Shungurtiskhov with a decisive 6:2 score in the final. This victory marks a remarkable streak for the athlete, who also holds the 2024 World Champion title in this age category.
Continental success for Moldova
In the 77kg weight class, Alexandru Solovei narrowly missed the podium. He finished in fourth place after a contested bronze-medal match against Ukraine’s Irfan Mirzoiev.
The Moldovan delegation's performance in Zrenjanin has been historically strong across multiple disciplines. Alexandru Gaidarlî also claimed a European title, while Alexandru Borș and Mihaela Samoil secured bronze medals in their respective freestyle and women's wrestling categories.
