"I request the state institutions that the fee of 9 euros per passenger be reviewed, in the sense of the maximum reduction of this fee. I ask the APP and the airport administration to ensure the optimal operation of the airport from now on, so that citizens can benefit from more routes to more destinations, at an affordable price", said the president Maia Sandu.

At the same time, the head of state asked the state institutions to ensure that the Chisinau International Airport, officially returned to state management, is inspected, and the detected irregularities - documented.

"The airport is not a simple state asset. The airport must become a regional node that provides the necessary infrastructure for the Republic of Moldova to connect more with the European economic space, and the justice institutions must ensure that all the people involved in this theft are punished according to the law", said the president Maia Sandu.

We remind you that the Chisinau International Airport officially came under the management of the state as of March 28, after it was taken under concession for a period of 49 years in 2013. The President accuses the leader of the "Sor" Party, the fugitive deputy, Ilan Şor and the former leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova, Vladimir Plahotniuc, of the "theft" of the airport, through "false transactions". As a result of this scheme, for nine years, the state lost revenues worth 1.6 billion lei, claims the head of state.

"Nine years have passed. During these years, the citizens gave the thieves a clear answer: that our country is not for sale. Today justice is done. The airport again belongs to the state, that is, to the citizens. This justice is primarily your merit, of the honest people of Moldova", President Sandu concluded.

We remind that, currently, the International Airport is officially administered by the state enterprise "Chisinau International Airport".
