All veterans will receive sanatorium treatment tickets

All veterans in the Republic of Moldova can obtain tickets for sanatorium treatment, regardless of their employment status or entrepreneurial activities.
The Committee for Social Protection, Health, and Family approved a project on March 25 that proposes removing the exception preventing employed individuals or those engaged in entrepreneurial activities from accessing certain facilities.
The project's authors argue that limiting access based on employment status is discriminatory. They believe that employed veterans should not be denied the rights available to non-employed citizens.
Additionally, the new provisions state that veterans who are permanently employed will be entitled to a sanatorium treatment ticket once every three years. They will have the option to use this benefit either as an insured person at work or as a veteran.
The draft law will be reviewed and voted on during a plenary session of Parliament.
It is noteworthy that in 2025, nearly 5,000 treatment tickets were utilised, amounting to over 57 million lei.
According to data from the Ministry of Defence and the National Social Insurance House, there are approximately 40,000 veterans in the Republic of Moldova. This includes around 28,000 veterans of the Nistru and about 8,000 veterans of the Afghanistan war.
