Olaf Scholz confirmed his participation in the meeting of the European Political Community in the Republic of Moldova

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed that he will come to the Republic of Moldova on June 1 at the meeting of the European Political Community. During a trilateral meeting, in Bucharest, with the head of state Maia Sandu and the Romanian president Klaus Iohannis, the chancellor mentioned that this meeting will prove the unity of Europe.

"We will travel to Chisinau on June 1 for the summit of the European Political Community, which will be organized by the Republic of Moldova. This meeting will once again demonstrate the unity of Europe in these times. We meet informally in a discussion and this is very important for understanding within Europe. It is important for exchanges between the states of Europe, which are not members of the EU".

On June 1, the Republic of Moldova will host the meeting of the European Political Community. The event will bring together 50 heads of state and government from Europe and leaders of the European Union, said the head of state.

"For us, hosting this summit is a reconfirmation of Moldova's commitment to European values, but also of our country's role in finding sustainable solutions for the challenges we all face today," said Maia Sandu.

At the same time, the president appreciated the joint initiative of Germany, Romania and France to create a Support Platform for Moldova, to help our country overcome the crises we are facing.

Maia Sandu noted that the three editions of the Platform brought together dozens of countries and international organizations, which announced their support for the Republic of Moldova. Also, the head of state declared that the next edition of the Platform will take place this autumn , in Chisinau.

Moreover, the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis emphasized that his country actively participates in the European Union's efforts to establish a civilian mission of the Common Security and Defense Policy in the Republic of Moldova and to continue the support offered to the Republic of Moldova through the European Peace Facility.

"Romania will always be with the Republic of Moldova and we are united at the level of the European Union in giving it all the necessary support, including for strengthening its resilience and protecting it in the face of destabilizing actions (...). The Republic of Moldova is not alone, and this trilateral meeting today clearly proves it", concluded the leader from Bucharest.

We remind you that today the head of state is on a working visit to Bucharest where she had a meeting with Klaus Iohannis and Olaf Scholz. Also, Maia Sandu paid a visit to the Royal House where she had talks with Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown and His Royal Mahesty, Prince Radu.
