Energy expert with 20-year international career nominated for ANRE board

The Economics, Budget, and Finance Committee has officially endorsed Daniel Mititelu for a leadership position on the Board of Directors of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE).
The decision, approved on March 31, follows a public contest where Mititelu emerged as the top candidate. His nomination will now be tabled for final confirmation by the plenary of the Parliament.
Extensive international expertise
An engineer by trade, Mititelu specializes in oil and gas drilling. He brings over two decades of professional experience to the role, having previously held senior positions within energy firms in the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Kazakhstan.
The selection process was highly competitive. Out of the eight candidates initially admitted to the interview stage, Mititelu secured the majority with six committee votes.
Regulatory board structure
Other candidates included Serghei Bargan (4 votes), Natalia Timofte (3 votes), and Violina Șpac (2 votes). Denis Munciuleanu and Vitalie Petrov did not receive any votes during the session.
The ANRE Board of Directors consists of five members. Under national law, directors are appointed by the Parliament through a majority vote of the elected deputies.
Mititelu is expected to fill a vacancy on the board following the expiration of the previous mandate held by Violina Șpac, who was originally confirmed in February 2020.
