Trump sets three-week timeline for Iran withdrawal as strategic objectives met

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed on March 31 that the United States is nearing the conclusion of its military campaign against Iran. This statement aligns with recent remarks from President Donald Trump, who suggested a full withdrawal could occur within the next two to three weeks.
Speaking with Fox News, Rubio noted that while the exit will not be instantaneous, the "finish line" for the five-week conflict is rapidly approaching. The offensive, titled Operation Epic Fury, was launched to neutralize regional threats.
Strategic neutralization of Tehran's capabilities
The Secretary of State defended the Trump administration's military intervention, asserting that precision strikes on Tehran have effectively eliminated Iran's capacity to develop advanced weaponry. These actions reportedly delayed Iran’s military development for at least two years.
President Trump previously stated from the Oval Office that American forces have "achieved the objective." He emphasized that a withdrawal is imminent, regardless of whether a formal agreement with Iran is signed.
A shift in regional security responsibilities
The President characterized any potential diplomatic document as "largely irrelevant" given the physical destruction of Iran’s nuclear facilities and arsenals. He maintained that the primary goals of the mission have already been realized.
As U.S. forces prepare to depart, Trump signaled a major shift in maritime policy. He announced that the United States will no longer shoulder the burden of patrolling oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, calling on nations such as France and China to secure their own energy routes.
