Chișinău public transport fares rise to 7 lei per ticket starting May

Starting May 1, the fare for public transportation in Chisinau will increase by one lei. A trip on a bus, minibus, or trolleybus will now cost seven lei, up from the current price of six lei. The city's authorities attribute this fare increase to rising fuel prices.

According to the Chisinau City Hall, a decision made by the Chisinau Municipal Council in June 2022 allows for adjustments to public transport fares based on economic indicators, including the consumer price index.

In light of this and considering the near doubling of fuel costs, the City Hall has announced that the new reference fare for public transport in Chisinau will be set at 7 lei, effective May 1, 2026.

We remind you that the last increase in public transport fares occurred in July 2022, when the price of a trip rose from 2 to 6 lei.
