Ludmila Vartic case: lawyers allege investigation irregularities
New information is emerging in the case of Ludmila Vartic. Violeta Gașițoi, one of the lawyers handling the case, stated that after reviewing approximately 1,000 pages of the file with her colleague, she uncovered multiple illegalities, instances of negligence, and procedural violations that could significantly impact the investigation. Additionally, the defence attorney suggests that there may be two suspects, or even two individuals who could be charged in the case.
The lawyer argues that the suspect, Dumitru Vartic, should also be investigated for abuse of power and forgery of a signature, claiming that the authorities violated protocols for collecting and preserving evidence.
"The Prosecutor General's Office will certainly be notified about these facts. The items that the authorities claim were found on the victim were not properly sealed, which raises doubts about whether that evidence was genuinely found on Ludmila," said lawyer Violeta Gașițoi.
Ludmila Vartic had a fear of heights, an important detail that should not be overlooked, according to Gașițoi. She also asserts that children can be considered victims of domestic violence as well.
"The children witnessed the conflicts between their parents. They saw their mother kicked out of the house and denied permission to return, only allowed inside at their father's command. When the children were questioned, they were supposed to be brought by the social worker, who had the necessary power of attorney. However, this did not happen; the children were brought by their father," the lawyer explained.
We attempted to get a response from the General Inspectorate of Police, but received no reply. Previously, the head of the IGP, Viorel Cernăuțeanu, stated in a broadcast that the investigation relies on witness statements and forensic and psychological evaluations.
Ludmila Vartic died as a result of a fall from a height, a conclusion supported by a forensic report. After her tragic death, she became a symbol in the fight against domestic violence, provoking strong reactions within society.
