Pumpkin seeds risk: ANSA bans 15 tons over pesticide excess

The National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) has seized 15 tons of pumpkin seeds due to excessive pesticide content and is returning them to the producer.

The institution stated that the product posed health risks to consumers. Laboratory analyses revealed that pyraclostrobin pesticide residues exceeded acceptable levels by more than 2 times.

"As a result, the batch of non-compliant seeds has been placed under official restriction. Following the decision of the economic operator, the entire quantity of 15 tons will be returned to the producer in the country of origin," reads a press release issued by ANSA.

The non-compliant batch did not reach the shelves of stores or markets in the Republic of Moldova, according to ANSA, which assures that there are no risks for consumers in the country.
