Over 400 northern Moldovan students explore options at Bălți University Fair

More than 400 students from the Balti municipality and the Sangerei district attended the Moldovan Universities Fair held last weekend at the "Alecu Russo" State University in Balti. The students explored various study programs, engaged with representatives from higher education institutions, and began to identify their preferred choices for the future.
I came to learn more about our universities because we are the future. It's important for us to stay informed and make the right decisions. I can say that the educational system has improved significantly lately, and I was pleasantly surprised.
I want to explore more of Moldova's universities and plan to stay in Bălți, at the Pedagogy faculty. My goal is to build a future here, together with my family and friends, as we have talented individuals and professionals who deserve to be developed.
In addition to the presentations, the graduates participated in career guidance workshops and discussions with specialists from various fields, including Education, Law, IT, Economics, and Medicine.
"We came to present our institution's educational offerings for graduates and future specialists. We showcased what studying Medicine entails, aiming to encourage students to stay in Moldova, where there is also a need for specialists and ample development opportunities. We organized a workshop that exemplifies our mission: providing first aid on the street," said Pavel Chisaru from the "Nicolae Testemitanu" State University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
"We are here to promote our educational offerings and invite students to remain in our beautiful country. Our institution, known for its long-standing experience, is an asset, and we will strive to convince young people to choose a university with a rich tradition and well-trained professionals", said Victoria Stratan, an associate professor at the "Ion Creangă" State Pedagogical University in Chisinau.
"The Moldova State University offers a generous range of over 60 undergraduate specialties, along with several dozen for master's studies, as well as doctoral and postdoctoral programs. The university provides many state-funded places, dormitory accommodations, and various facilities at the Sports Palace, which includes a swimming pool, modern library laboratories, and an excellent teaching staff," emphasized Vitali Sochircă in an interview with Radio Moldova.
This event is part of the national campaign "Learn in Moldova", which aims to encourage young people to pursue their studies at home, said Ludmila Stihi, the secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research.
"We are extremely pleased that young people are attending these events to educate themselves about the opportunities available at institutions in the Republic of Moldova. This information is not always well-known, and people sometimes rely on outdated details about our educational system. The ongoing and planned modernizations in the coming years indicate that higher education is aligning with European standards. We have programs that are equivalent to those in European universities, and the training conditions and teaching staff are of high quality, employing modern training methods," stated Ludmila Stihi.
Statistical data show a growing interest in university studies in the country. According to the Ministry of Education and Research, in 2025, over 17,000 students were admitted to bachelor's programs, and nearly 6,000 to master's programs.
By 2028, authorities aim for seven out of ten lyceum graduates to choose to continue their studies in the Republic of Moldova.
