“Descoperă” Festival marks 10th edition: 3 days of open-air classical music in Butuceni
The organizers of the open-air classical music festival "Descopera" announced on April 6 the launch of its tenth edition. The event is scheduled to take place in Butuceni from June 19 to June 21. The Ministry of Culture has stated that the festival will have a fixed date going forward, providing greater predictability for both participants and visitors.

"We want to establish a fixed date for the 'Descopera' festival, which will be held annually on the third weekend of June. It is essential for attendees, including those coming from abroad, to know that the festival will take place in Butuceni, Republic of Moldova," said Minister of Culture Cristian Jardan.
The tenth edition of the festival will be inaugurated by the artistic bands of the "Serghei Lunchevici" National Philharmonic.
"We are presenting a very diverse program of true classical music, featuring the Symphony Orchestra, the "Doina" Academic Choir, and the "Concertino" Ensemble. The first part of the program is titled 'Rhapsodies and Famous Fantasias,' and in the second part, we will showcase 'Misatango' by Martin Palmeri," said Svetlana Bivol, director of the "Serghei Lunchevici" National Philharmonic.
On June 20, Verdi's opera “Nabucco” will also be performed.
“Nabucco is particularly suited for a more unique setting, possibly with villagers dressed in costumes from the show, which will create an interesting atmosphere,” mentioned Nicolae Dohotaru, director of the “Maria Biesu” National Opera and Ballet Theater.
The final evening of the “Discover” festival will feature something new.
“For the first time, the National Orchestra of the 'Teleradio-Moldova' Company will participate. We will present an extensive program of musical gems composed throughout the centuries,” declared Gheorghe Mustea, director of the orchestra.
We remind you that cars will not be permitted in the village to avoid disturbing the residents. All attendees will walk through Butuceni to reach the festival.
The “Descopera” festival is funded by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with economic agents, and the first edition took place in 2016.
