Moldova seeks Japanese investment in infrastructure, energy, and digitalization, Popșoi

Moldova and Japan are looking to enhance their cooperation in several strategic areas. On April 7, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with the new Japanese Ambassador to Chișinău, Takeuchi Kazuyuki. They discussed opportunities to deepen their partnership in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, digitalization, and institutional development—key areas vital for the modernization of the Republic of Moldova.

The economic cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Japan is entering a new phase of consolidation, and the bilateral political dialogue is becoming increasingly active, as noted by the participants.

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi expressed gratitude to the authorities in Chișinău for the continued support from Japan, highlighting the country's contributions to strengthening Moldova's resilience and supporting its European aspirations.

"Japan is a reliable partner for the Republic of Moldova, and our bilateral cooperation has significant potential for development. We want to seize new opportunities for collaboration that will benefit our citizens," stated Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi.

The officials emphasized the vital role of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which actively contributes to the implementation of development projects in the Republic of Moldova. They highlighted its impact on strengthening institutional capacities and modernizing key sectors of the economy.

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi extended his best wishes to Ambassador Takeuchi Kazuyuki for success in his diplomatic mission in Chișinău, expressing the Moldovan authorities' openness to closer collaboration in the near future.
