"1+1" talks on April 16: Chiveri and Ignatiev meet in Tiraspol

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri is scheduled to meet next week with the political representative of Tiraspol, Vitali Ignatiev. The "1+1" talks are set to take place on April 16 at the headquarters of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Mission in the Transnistrian region.
This will be the second meeting of this format since the beginning of the year, following the one held on February 26 in Tiraspol.
The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration previously stated that the agenda will address issues related to access to education and environmental management, as well as topics proposed by Tiraspol.
According to Chiveri, the "1+1" platform, which includes political representatives from Chisinau and Tiraspol, is currently the only accepted format for negotiations. It is considered relevant for discussing topics of interest to citizens on both sides of the Nistru.
Chisinau advocates for a gradual reintegration across various areas, which aims to create conditions for the comprehensive resolution of this conflict. The fiscal differences between the two banks of the Nistru are to be gradually eliminated by 2030.
Additionally, the extra revenue generated for the national budget as a result of this measure will be invested in social projects in the Transnistrian region through the Convergence Fund, the operational mechanism of which is currently being developed.
We recall that during the "1+1" meeting in February, Chisinau proposed transitioning all Moldovan schools in the Transnistrian region to teaching in Romanian to ensure that children have access to quality education in their mother tongue.
Deputy Prime Minister Chiveri also advocated expanding the 112 emergency service across the country, initially through pilot projects in localities such as Tighina, Dubăsari, and Râbnița.
