Hundreds in Soroca donated food to the needy
Over three tons of food were collected in Soroca during an Easter charity campaign. One hundred fifty bags of non-perishable food were distributed to those in need, particularly the elderly.

Hundreds of people answered the call and participated in the Easter campaign. The first food packages collected by volunteers have arrived at the Association of the Blind in Soroca.
"We have 70 registered members, and we chose the most vulnerable individuals—those with children and lonely people who lack support. This assistance is crucial. It's a significant benefit; they will have ingredients to prepare and improve their holiday meals," said Veaceslav Banari, the director of the Association of the Blind in Soroca.
"This help is very much needed because everything is becoming increasingly expensive. To be honest, even our pensions are insufficient to last a whole month. It's very welcome. I will have something to prepare for Easter."
"Thank you; this support is incredibly important to us. We are grateful from the bottom of our hearts, and may the Lord grant health to those who thought of us."
"Happy is the person who can help others. May you have what you need to prepare your holiday meal. Yes, I make my own tasty Easter cake with cheese, just like we Moldovans do."
For the students of "Ion Creangă" Theoretical Lyceum, participating in such charitable actions has become a tradition.
"This national Easter campaign, 'Meal of Joy,' has shown us once again the great impact of solidarity. People have contributed what they can for those who have less than we do. We have witnessed the contentment and gratitude on people's faces, confirming that a gesture of charity can fill not only a plate but also a soul," said volunteer Maria Șevciuc.
Some of the collected food items will be distributed to parish centers of the Metropolitanate of Bassarabia, the campaign's organizer, as well as to social canteens that provide daily hot meals to the elderly and needy.
"The remaining food that will stay in the parish canteen's warehouse will be converted into hot food packages throughout the year, as we have around 40 to 45 beneficiaries we consistently feed as part of the Social Canteen Project," said Sorin Huluța, the parish priest of the Metropolitanate of Bassarabia.
The food collection took place nationwide. In just one day, nearly 100 tons of food products were donated—one-third of which came from Chisinau alone. All these items will be distributed directly to the homes of those in need by Easter. Over 1,350 volunteers participated in the collection process, demonstrating that solidarity is a powerful force.
