Tradition through young eyes: Chisinau Parliament hosts cross-border Easter showcase
The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova is currently hosting "Luminous Easter," a vibrant exhibition featuring over 30 artworks by students from the Alexei Stîrcea School of Arts. The collection, created by young artists aged 11 to 15, translates traditional Paschal symbols into a sophisticated visual dialogue displayed within the nation's supreme legislative building.
The exhibition highlights quintessential cultural motifs, including intricately painted eggs, traditional "cozonac" pastries resting on handcrafted towels, and serene landscapes of blooming spring. These works represent the creative output of students guided by mentors Veronica Tarasenco, Mihai Cebotaru, Gabriela Gudima, Olga Roșca, and Ion Ciobanu.
A bridge across the Prut
Broadening its cultural scope, the event includes contributions from students at the Children's Palace in Baia Mare, Romania. This collaboration is part of the "Colors and Music of the Homeland" cross-border project, an initiative designed to strengthen cultural ties and promote shared values between the youth of Moldova and Romania.
Project coordinator and arts educator Veronica Tarasenco emphasized that the exhibition serves as a vital bridge for transmitting heritage. She noted that students feel a heightened sense of responsibility and pride knowing their work is showcased at the Parliament, fueling their artistic inspiration.
