Traffic restrictions in Chisinau during Gheorghe Urschi’s funeral

Road traffic will be restricted on Wednesday, April 15, on several streets in central Chisinau due to the funeral of master Gheorghe Urschi. Public transport will be rerouted.
On Alexandr Pușkin str., traffic will be halted between 09:45 and 10:00 along the section between București str. and Veronica Micle str.
Starting from 13:00, there will be traffic restrictions for the funeral procession heading to the Central Cemetery.
The procession will commence at the "Nicolae Sulac" National Palace, proceeding towards Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Boulevard, then along Vasile Alecsandri str. and Alexe Mateevici Str., leading to the cemetery.
Gheorghe Urschi will be laid to rest at 14:00.
The day of master Gheorghe Urschi's funeral will be recognized as a day of national mourning in the Republic of Moldova, as announced by President Maia Sandu.
State flags will be flown at half-mast, and public institutions, as well as citizens, are encouraged to observe a moment of silence in honor of the esteemed artist.
Gheorghe Urschi was known for his multifaceted career in theater, film, television, and literature. As a director and screenwriter, he produced iconic films that left a lasting impact on national cinema.
The artist passed away on Monday, April 13, after "5,422 days of fighting for life," following a stroke he suffered in 2021.
Gheorghe Urschi was a People's Artist, received the "Order of the Republic" and the National Award. Also, he was Honorary Citizen of the Chisinau municipality.
