Book Fair shows 55 releases; Arcadie Suceveanu signs the surprise book
"The Castle in the Form of a Book," by Arcadie Suceveanu, will be the surprise gift for children at this year's International Book Fair for Children and Youth. Now in its 27th edition, the fair will be held from April 23 to 26 at Moldexpo. It will feature over 70 publishing houses, offering discounts of up to 30% on thousands of titles.
The program features approximately 55 book launches, author meetings, autograph sessions, and reading workshops. Visitors will also have the opportunity to engage in round tables, poetry recitals, and book illustration exhibitions.
Special guests include writers Adina Rosetti and Simona Epure, illustrator and writer Dan Ungureanu, and Petre Crăciun, the president of the Children and Youth Literature Branch of the Romanian Writers’ Union.
The official opening day on April 23 will highlight the "Storytime" session, during which Marcela Nistor, the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture, will read to children from her favorite books. Additionally, on April 24, soprano Valentina Naforniță will participate in the launch of the "Classical Music for Children" collection.
On April 25, the "Historical Hour" event will include debates on the "Memories of Bassarabia" collection and the awarding of winners from the 4th edition of the Republican History Essay Contest. Additionally, a roundtable discussion focused on trends in book illustration is scheduled for the same day.
The event will conclude with an awards ceremony on the final day.
Access to all program highlights is free. The fair is open from 10:00 to 18:00, and on the last day, it closes at 17:00.
