PACE President Petra Bayr praises Moldova’s resilience and counter-disinformation expertise in Strasbourg

PACE President Petra Bayr met with Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mihai Popșoi, in Strasbourg. The discussions centered on Moldova's remarkable resilience in the face of disinformation and information manipulation.
President Bayr noted that the best practices developed by Moldova could serve as a model for other nations. This recognition underscores Chisinau’s growing role as a strategic contributor to European democratic security.
Strengthening democratic institutions
Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to a long-term partnership through the Parliamentary Assembly. Bayr expressed full support for Moldova’s successful mandate at the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers.
The meeting highlighted the essential role of the Council of Europe in fortifying democratic institutions. Efforts continue to focus on promoting the rule of law and protecting human rights across the country.
A symbolic diplomatic milestone
During the visit, Minister Mihai Popșoi signed the "Golden Book" of the PACE Presidency. His message emphasized the critical role of the Assembly in strengthening democracy amid current geopolitical challenges.
The MAE office in Chisinau confirmed that this meeting reinforces the high-level cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe. It signals a shared vision for a stable and democratic European future.
