Suceava–Bălți power line declared a project of national importance by the Government of Romania

The section of the 400 kV Suceava - Bălți Overhead Power Line (OPL) located in Romania has been declared a project of national importance by the government in Bucharest. The decision, approved on April 23, clears the way for the construction process and permits the initiation of required expropriations for the establishment of the 400 kV line.
The corridor for the expropriation of private properties spans several administrative-territorial units in Suceava and Botoșani counties, including the city of Salcea and 15 communes.
The total amount allocated for compensation to the affected property owners is approximately 741,000 lei (equivalent to 185,251 RON). This funding comes from the Romanian state budget through the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism.
These funds will be transferred within 30 days to an account opened in the name of the National Electricity Transport Company "Transelectrica" S.A., which will then manage the payment of compensation to the owners.
The project will be carried out by "Transelectrica" S.A., which is designated as the expropriator. The company will handle both the legal expropriation procedures and the distribution of compensation amounts.
In addition to constructing the 400 kV Suceava-Balti Overhead Power Line, the project includes related works for modernization, maintenance, emergency interventions, and ensuring the coexistence of the infrastructure.
The Suceava-Balti Power Line is part of Romania's strategic energy infrastructure, aimed at strengthening interconnections between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, thereby contributing to the security and stability of energy supply in the region.
Two additional lines that will interconnect Romania and the Republic of Moldova are the Vulcănești-Chișinău line (400 kV), scheduled to be operational soon, and the Strașeni-Gutinaș line (400 kV). The construction of the latter will be financed with $130 million from the USA.
