Officials reviewed the 2025 monitoring report, agreeing to expand victim protection protocols. The committee prioritized safeguarding children and tracking Moldova’s compliance with European benchmarks.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi chaired the session. He stressed the need to streamline the national response to shifting human trafficking trends.

Popșoi also thanked international partners and civil society. He noted their critical role in helping Moldova meet its Council of Europe commitments and advance its broader EU integration process.

Focusing on prevention and victim support

The committee examined the progress of the 2024–2028 National Action Plan. Discussions highlighted systemic challenges, including the need for stronger youth prevention strategies and proactive victim identification.

Members emphasized that victims must be guaranteed immediate access to specialized services and free medical care.

The body also reviewed a government-approved framework adopted on April 15, 2026. This legislative package implements the final conclusions of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings.

Moving forward, authorities will monitor seven priority recommendations. These metrics will shape the national compliance report due next year for the Convention's Committee of the Parties.

The National Committee serves as a key government advisory body. It coordinates nationwide anti-trafficking efforts, monitors public policies, and proposes systemic enhancements for victim protection across law enforcement and social sectors.
