Russian drone attack on Kherson bus kills two

A Russian drone strike targeted a civilian bus in Kherson’s Dnipro district early Saturday morning, killing two people and wounding seven others.

The attack occurred around 7:00 a.m. local time on May 2. Regional Governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed the fatalities included a municipal worker and a local woman who died at the scene.

Seven additional civilians sustained injuries in the blast. While emergency services responded immediately, officials have yet to release detailed reports on their current medical conditions.

President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the strike on Telegram, condemning what he described as a systematic "drone safari" against front-line communities. He emphasized that Russian forces intentionally target non-military transport.

This incident marks the second major strike on public transport in the city this year. On March 11, a similar Russian attack on a civilian bus left 10 people wounded.

The strike is part of a broader aerial campaign. This week alone, Russia launched approximately 1,600 attack drones and 1,100 guided aerial bombs across Ukraine, hitting residential areas in Kharkiv and energy infrastructure in Mykolaiv.

Zelensky warned that these massive waves aim to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defenses. He called for urgent missile supplies and stricter enforcement of international sanctions to deplete Russia’s war budget.
