Moldova’s Speaker to join EU summit in Copenhagen

Speaker of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, will attend the Conference of Speakers of the European Union Parliaments (EUSC) held in Copenhagen from May 3–5.
The summit, hosted by the Danish Parliament, focuses on critical European challenges. Key topics include regional security, EU enlargement, democratic resilience, and countering hybrid threats.
Strategic bilateral meetings
In the margin of the event, Igor Grosu will hold high-level talks with European counterparts. His agenda includes meetings with the heads of parliaments from Belgium, Albania, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Poland.
These discussions will center on how EU member states can practically support candidate countries in their accession journey and legislative harmonization.
Engaging with the community
Continuing his tradition of diplomatic outreach, the Speaker will meet with Moldovan citizens living in Denmark. He aims to discuss Moldova’s development priorities and the concrete steps taken toward EU membership.
The official visit also includes a technical exchange at the Danish Emergency Management Agency to adopt best practices in crisis response and civil protection.
A forum for interparliamentary cooperation
The EUSC serves as a vital platform for national parliaments to coordinate on European affairs. It brings together EU Speakers, the President of the European Parliament, and representatives from partner and candidate states.
