Russian drone attacks kill 3 in Odesa and Kherson

Russian forces launched a coordinated drone and missile strike against Odessa's port and civilian infrastructure overnight on May 3. Local prosecutors confirmed that the attacks killed two people and injured five others.

The bombardment partially destroyed five residential properties across two settlements. While port facilities were also struck, emergency services reported that the resulting fires were quickly extinguished.

Fatalities in Kherson region

In a separate morning attack, Russian forces targeted a civilian vehicle in the Kherson region using a drone. The vehicle was transporting employees of a local enterprise at the time of the strike.

A 60-year-old man died instantly from his injuries, while five other passengers sustained wounds of varying severity. Authorities also reported that a second drone strike damaged an ambulance, though no further casualties were documented.

Air defense performance

The Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Russia deployed one Iskander-M ballistic missile and 268 attack drones during the night.

Ukrainian air defense systems successfully intercepted 249 of the drones. However, military officials confirmed that the ballistic missile and 19 drones struck 15 separate locations, with debris causing additional damage in one area.
