Ukraine hits Russian shadow fleet in Primorsk port

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed a successful joint operation targeting several Russian vessels and key infrastructure at the Primorsk oil terminal in the Leningrad region.

The coordinated strike hit a Karakurt-class corvette, capable of launching Kalibr cruise missiles, alongside a patrol boat and an oil tanker belonging to Russia’s "shadow fleet."

Significant infrastructure damage

Zelenskyy reported that the port's oil infrastructure sustained substantial damage during the mission. The operation involved the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Unmanned Systems Forces, and the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR).

"Each result of this kind degrades Russia's capacity to continue its war of aggression," the President stated. He emphasized that these actions are a direct response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilians.

Expanded defensive operations

The SBU has received approval for additional retaliatory measures against Russian territory. Zelenskyy warned that Russia could end the conflict at any moment by withdrawing its forces.

"The prolongation of this war will only lead to the further expansion of our defensive operations," Zelenskyy added, signaling a shift toward more frequent strikes on Russian strategic assets.
