Promo-LEX reports serious rights abuses in Transnistrian region, including child militarization
The militarization and indoctrination of children, the recruitment of men into paramilitary groups, and serious violations of the rights of illegally detained individuals are some of the violations acknowledged by the separatist regime in Tiraspol during the first three months of the year. These findings come from experts at the "Promo-LEX" Association, who have warned of a significant deterioration in the situation.

To accurately describe the human rights situation in the Transnistrian region, we need to focus on several key areas. One significant issue is the militarization of adolescents and the justification of the war initiated by Vladimir Putin in Ukraine. According to experts from the Promo-LEX Association, the separatist regime has intensified its control and surveillance mechanisms.
Recent legislative initiatives aim to extensively monitor men aged 16 to 65 and facilitate their recruitment into paramilitary structures. Additionally, over 70,000 children and young people are being systematically exposed to propaganda and encouraged to attend military-related institutions.
Another critical aspect is the treatment of individuals who are illegally detained on the left bank of the Nistru. There are notable shortcomings in this area, particularly the severe underfunding of the penitentiary system, which allocates approximately 100 lei for medical services compared to over 2,700 lei on the right bank of the Nistru.
The Promo-LEX Association has highlighted the case of Evghenii Pancioha, a 42-year-old citizen of the Republic of Moldova, who has been illegally detained in the Transnistrian region for eight years. His health has deteriorated significantly, putting his life in danger.
In light of these issues, the Promo-LEX Association urges authorities and international partners to immediately and unconditionally release individuals who are illegally detained. They also call for the establishment of a functional post-detention assistance mechanism for victims.
Moreover, protecting civic space and freedom of expression, as well as halting militarization and propaganda within the educational system, are equally crucial, according to Promo-LEX.
