Maia Sandu at the meeting with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe: Despite the challenges caused by the war, we will continue the actions to eradicate corruption
The reforms are part of the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova, but also a commitment made to the citizens, said President Maia Sandu at the meeting with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE), Marija Pejčinović Burić.
The discussion focused on cooperation with the CoE, which for almost three decades has been a solid partner in the process of reforming and democratizing our country. "The head of state emphasized that, despite the challenges caused by the war, the authorities continue the actions of rooting out corruption and reforming justice. According to President Maia Sandu, these reforms are part of the country's European agenda, but also a commitment to the citizens, to build a just society and a resilient economy, which will provide people with security", reds the press release of the presidential institution. The Republic of Moldova joined the Council of Europe in July 1995 and is the first country from the Commonwealth of Independent States to be a member of this organization. Our country is committed to respect fundamental human rights and freedoms, to ensure the functioning of democratic institutions and media freedom. Over the years, the Council of Europe has provided assistance to the Republic of Moldova in the process of implementing reforms.
