U.S. allocates $8 million for Moldova’s cybersecurity

The United States of America (USA) is providing $8 million to enhance the Republic of Moldova's cybersecurity capabilities. This announcement was made by Nick Pietrowicz, a representative from the US Embassy in Chișinău, during the third edition of the Moldova Cybersecurity Forum 2026, which commenced on May 12 in Chișinău.

The collaboration increases the safety of people in the United States and Moldova, aiding in the identification and prevention of cyber threats that impact both regional and global stability, the official stated.

Washington has consistently supported the Republic of Moldova in strengthening its digital security.

For instance, during the 2024 presidential elections, American cybersecurity technologies blocked nearly four million attempted attacks on the Presidency's website.

We would like to highlight that the Republic of Moldova will host the third edition of the Moldova Cybersecurity Forum 2026 on May 12-13. This event is the largest cybersecurity event in the country and will feature guests from across the European Union.

The Director of the Cybersecurity Agency, Mihai Lupașcu, recently stated on Moldova 1 that the forum serves as a platform for collaboration and open communication regarding the primary cybersecurity challenges and the solutions that can be implemented.

On the second day of the event, there will be a practical exercise designed especially for students, featuring simulations of scenarios that could threaten cybersecurity.

Young specialists will have the opportunity to interact with experienced practitioners and learn effective strategies to combat online attacks.
